| Walked into the house that I hadn't bowled in since the late 70's for a Friday night league. It wasn't anything like I remember it. First ball 6,7,10 split finished that game at 188. 2nd game 215, left not 1 but 2 8 pins. 3rd game 205. Series 608. I flagged 3 ten pins for the night trying to use my strike ball. Guess I am going to have to join the rest of the world and get a spare ball. I'm having more trouble with my knee than my shoulder. Getting old sucks, but I THINK it beats the alternative. LOL |

1st night of league. Started out with 235, picked up 3,6,7,10 split. 2nd game 188, flagged 3 ten pins. 3rd game 221, clean game. 644 series not bad for coming off knee and shoulder surgery. Shoulder is getting better, still can't lift my arm above my shoulder and have to go to therapy 3 times a week.

Back to bowling

| Well since my league starts next Tuesday I thought I should find out if I was going to be able to participate. So after knee and shoulder surgery (see previous blog) and lots of physical therapy I picked up the bowling ball for the first time since last April. Went to the alley to throw a few balls. With about 30% range of motion back in my left shoulder I was definately expecting the worse. Imagine my surprise when there was hardly any pain, although I am pretty sore today. Oh yeah the scores were a whole lot better than I expected also, 172, 211 and 201. Hope everybody has a GREAT week. Well off to therapy I go........ |

Shoulder surgery
Sunday, July 15, 2007, 05:45 PM CST [General]
| Hi. How have you been? Sorry I haven't been on for so long but I have been trying to recover. When I had my shoulder surgery they found a lot more wrong than they thought so the surgery was a lot worse than expected. Then I had a bad reaction to the anethesia and couldn't stop vomiting. For the first two weeks I had an ice chest with a pump pumping cold water into a balloon type contraption taped to my shoulder 24 hours a day. I was on oxycodone every 4 hours so all I did was sleep. Now I only have to take it when the pain gets too bad. I went back to the doctor on the 3rd and had the stitches removed. I have to wear an immobilizer 24/7 for 6 weeks except I can take it off to shower. I start rehab tomorrow, 3 times a week, so hopefully I will be able to use my arm again soon. Have a GREAT day!
